EdgeConnect Tunnel Budget Tool

To calculate the number of tunnels needed for your SD-WAN network, please fill in the details below in the "Inputs" section and click the “Calculate Estimates” button.

You will find an estimated tunnel count per hub under the “Hub Tunnel Estimate” output, and an estimated tunnel count per spoke under the “Spoke Tunnel Estimate” output.

If the per hub tunnel estimate is more than 10,000, the output will be highlighted in RED to indicate that the number of tunnels likely exceeds the Hub gateway capacity, and you would need to adjust your configuration.

If the per spoke tunnel estimate is more than 5,000, the output will be highlighted in RED to indicate that the number of tunnels likely exceeds the Spoke gateway capacity, and you would need to adjust your configuration.

This tool is meant for estimation and planning purposes; actual tunnel count per gateway will vary slightly based on network configuration per site (e.g., sites with 3 WAN interfaces will have more tunnels than sites with 2 WAN interfaces).

EdgeConnect gateway models support a large number of tunnels, but it does vary slightly between models. Below is a table listing the per-model maximum supported tunnel count.
